Hey guys, can anyone explain what this could be? It’s not fungus. Separation looks different imo. Is it the black coloring on the side of the lens flaking off?

From the posted photo it could be edge separation, or Schneideritis, which is the term used to describe the black paint flaking off the ground edges of the lens elements (google it).More info on the lens might help.

This is clear lens cement separation. It has nothing to do with Schneideritis which look like dozens of little white dots in the inside black coating of the lens. This photo half way down the page shows you both issues inside one lens. You can see the difference
