BjarniM Posted November 11, 2023 Share #1  Posted November 11, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone in this forum noticed stiff and/or uneven focus on the Leica Summilux-M 35mm F1.4 ASPH. (2022)? Mine does both, but more at long focus-distances than short focus-distances. Advertisement Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Hi BjarniM, Take a look here Summilux-M 35mm (2022): Stiff and uneven focus. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
elmars Posted November 11, 2023 Share #2 Â Posted November 11, 2023 Leica lenses can be adjusted to different degrees of tightness. There are tolerances, but the lenses are assembled by hand and each mechanic has his own signature. What you describe sounds like the predecessor of the current Summilux 35 mm that I once had. You can simply have it adjusted differently if you describe it to Leica Customer Care. The only problem at the moment is that it takes quite a long time. BjarniM Posted November 11, 2023 Author Share #3  Posted November 11, 2023 Thanks. Do you how long “quite a long time” is?

chester6 Posted November 13, 2023 Share #6  Posted November 13, 2023 (edited) Just saw your post; I had the same experience except mine is stiffer in the lower focus distance, and the stiffness is directional, only when focusing closer. It’s stiff to the point where I’m putting a lot of force on it and crossing the 0.7m bump It’s still usable so I rather not do the 4 month repair, especially when there are people saying that repairing doesn’t even solve the problem Edited November 13, 2023 by chester6

After all it’s a lens for 5,800 EUR, so I think - from a buyers perspective - we should accept nothing less than perfection and not just a thing we can live with. It doesnt bother me, i have used old lenses which isnt too far away i noticed the uneven is caused by a slight resistance towards infinity lock and i accept the fact this lens will not be as smooth as the current fle, apo cron etc Edited November 14, 2023 by jakontil
