  • BjarniM changed the title to Summilux-M 35mm (2022): Stiff and uneven focus

Leica lenses can be adjusted to different degrees of tightness. There are tolerances, but the lenses are assembled by hand and each mechanic has his own signature. What you describe sounds like the predecessor of the current Summilux 35 mm that I once had. You can simply have it adjusted differently if you describe it to Leica Customer Care. The only problem at the moment is that it takes quite a long time.

Just saw your post; I had the same experience

except mine is stiffer in the lower focus distance, and the stiffness is directional, only when focusing closer. It’s stiff to the point where I’m putting a lot of force on it and crossing the 0.7m bump

It’s still usable so I rather not do the 4 month repair, especially when there are people saying that repairing doesn’t even solve the problem

Mine not stiffed, uneven? May be yes compared to my other modern lenses but it has been since bought it over a year today and it doesnt get worse, so i m happy to live with it

the aperture ring seems also not even towards f16

“happy to live with it”?

After all it’s a lens for 5,800 EUR, so I think - from a buyers perspective - we should accept nothing less than perfection and not just a thing we can live with.

It doesnt bother me, i have used old lenses which isnt too far away

i noticed the uneven is caused by a slight resistance towards infinity lock and i accept the fact this lens will not be as smooth as the current fle, apo cron etc
