Good night!

This topic must have already been discussed many times, but I cannot find an answer to my simple question, formulated in this way.

If I use a Leica R lens on a Leica M body, does it maintain the same "delivery" characteristics and image quality as when used on R bodies?

I think that the answer is yes, but I am open to comments

I don't want to compare R with M lens

Thanks all!

in theory*, Yes

*focus with the EVF or screen.

R bodies are film except for the DMR, film introduces a tonne of variables as far as image quality and characteristics are concerned.

Yes and NO.

Some lenses like Summicron 2/50 exist with same optical layout in M and R.

I use the two types along for many years R&M.

The subtle difference between the two is in contre-jour situation, the R lens has 6 blades and the M 10 blades,

so the "light blobs" rendering quite different.

With almost same optical layout the 1.4/75 M and 1.4/80 R have some subtle differenciations.

Number of aperture blades (open shape) is the other way around, rounder on R lens about f/2 - f/4.

Just for fun ...

Nice examples.

So, reading your post, i assume "yes they maintain it's caracteristics", i got it clearly, the subtle differences in "contrejour", thanks for this appreciation.
