Kl@usW. Posted November 6, 2023 Share #1  Posted November 6, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) The FLE is a superb lens--I love the optics and the rendering, but I hate the bulky rectangular sunshade. Are there alternatives ?  Mind the fact that the proprietary sunshade 12465 has a "female" inner thread and connects to the outer thread of the lens with a hard stop... and I need the inner thread (E 46 ) for filters since I do mainly B/W ... I tried the Summarit-style sunshade  ( 12439 ) --it can be mounted, doesn't vignette, looks nice and compact but there is  no space left for filters.  Any suggestions ?  Thank you !
Advertisement Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Hi Kl@usW., Take a look here Alternative sunshade for the Summilux-M 1:1,4/35 ASPH aka FLE ( 11663) ??. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

A 43 mm filter can be sandwiched in though. Edited November 30, 2023 by Khomaz
archive_all Posted December 1, 2023 Share #4  Posted December 1, 2023 There are the TVO shades too but it sounds like you're trying to go compact. Have you tried using a filter and no shade? The FLE has good flare resistance.
JMF Posted December 5, 2023 Share #5 Â Posted December 5, 2023 You could stack up a couple of step-up rings on top of the e46 filter ! Like 46-49 + 49-52 + 52-55 . My 2 cents! Â 1

The FLE has good flare resistance. Yes, I have a TVO shade for my Summaron 5,6/28.. perfect for that tiny lens as it keeps my fingers out the picture--but the shade for the FLE is way too big for my taste. Am 30.11.2023 um 19:39 schrieb Khomaz: The Summarit hood is very nice- sadly it does vignette a little bit up to 2.8. For b/w this option isn't viable because the E46 filter won't fit. In the end: thank you all, maybe I'll just have to make friends with the OEM shade. It's not a bad suggestion, but being a Leica guy makes you picky....

Thank you, cheeseyk; I  checked for the LH-9, it seems to be a rare bird nowadays. And expensive. Maybe one comes my way sooner or later.

Perhaps the most simple solution proves to be the best...
