Actual Ratio with DMR and R Vario 28-90 Asph?

Has anyone used the R 28-90 with the DMR and examined results against what they saw through the viewfinder?

 

I'm thinking about selling my R Vario 70-180 APO and buying a DMR. I would use it almost exclusively with my R Vario 28-90 Asph. I really like this lens and have seen some great results posted where the shooter used the DMR with the 28-90.

 

In the simplest terms, what would the "converted" values be against 28-90mm? I'm assuming the lens will appear to shoot a bit "longer".

A 38-123mm lens. Than a 19mm which is a 26mm than a 180 2.8 APO which is a 247mm and the DMR and world of fun. LOL

Quite agree with Guy - and certainly many other members. The 28-90 is wonderful (if you tolerate the distorsion at 28mm) and the color rendition with the DMR reminds me of the old beautiful Kodachrome II days. Actually it has become my "standard" lens. Its only drawback is the aperture at 90mm.

 

Enjoy the combination. With the 19 mm and the 180 mm, you can face almost any challenge.

It transforms very nicely into a 38-123 4.0-6.3 dof wise .

 

Very nice range but dof-control is not so easy

 

Take a look at Leibfritz-Konstruktion regarding dmr + 28-90, this was my first investment :D

Think at the Vario 21-35 mm = 29 -48 mm with DMR. It`s excellent to make landscape pictures.

It is rated one of the sharpest zooms there along with the Leica 35-70 f4 and Zeiss 24-85 f3.5.4.5 and Contax Zeiss 28-85, 35-70 f3.5 too.

Albert out of the 4 there I would say leica 28-90 is the best and only second to the famed 35-70 2.8 at the cost of a nice car. i loved the 28-90 but i did not like the F stop range but if outdoors is your thing than i think the best you can buy at a normal price. I don't have my test shots from it but man was it sharp and the color was aweome on the DMR

I also treasure my 28-90 and have been using it alot with the DMR to great effect! I have also been using the 70-180 with equal satisfaction. I prefer zoomlenses as you don't have to change them that often and hence you minize dust! I will consider gettting the 21-35mm zoom in the future for the same reasons.

Been a while since my posted question about the 28-90 (this past August 22).

 

I've had the 28-90 for some time now and am a True Believer. It has become my "on camera" lens.

 

Now, if I can just learn to use my 70-180 APO more often, I'd feel like it was worth the price. Right now I'm sort of struggling with it at a very elemental level. Is it a landscape lens, a portrait lens (some say it's too "truthful" for ladies), a street lens.

 

What I can say is that the 70-180 renders superb negatives. I did shoot some fall color with Kodak 100 Pro slide file and the the colors were spot on.

 

I'd welcome user reflections from Dr. Knapp, et al on the 70-180 APO.
