Question about focusing at background

@jankap there is no problem with close focus, like 1-3 meters, everything there usually in focus (at least that depends on my RF). I will try it too anyway

the problem I have is only when I want to shoot something on long distance. Today I installed my Ultron to XPRo3 (I don't have digital Leica yet) and there is no this issue, I'm starting to think this is the problem of scanner or my negatives.

I thought, that you should test your equipment technically. You bought used parts, I think. The rangefinder/viewfinder way is completely different from modern cameras, so a check would be useful. There is the real distance in meters, the rangefinder measurement, the scale on the lens and the picture. They all should fit. Of course, you can also test at infinity, an antenna or the top of a tree.

I've just looked up the dof charts from the data sheet from Leica for my Summilux 35 FLE, which you might find helpful. For f/8 it shows from infinity down to 2.485 metres (v.precise!) with lens set on 5m. What is not disclosed is the size circle of confusion was used for these calculations, nor print size, nor viewing distance. That does seem like a very optimistic amount of depth of field and probably ok for a 5x7" print held at arms length...?

Suggest you try the one or two f-stop modification, previously mentioned by others and see if the results are more to your liking.

I did wonder if Voigtlander used different scales to Leica - however my Summilux FLE, Nokton MkII and Color-Skopar all share identical dof markings and agree with the Leica charts.

@PCPix thank you, yes, The zone system works on other lenses, I think I have something wrong with the scan process - if you are interested - you can see that my scans don't have grain in the center, so today I will take my negatives from the lab and will check one more time.

 

@jankap yes you are right, that's probably something that you don't notice until you do. A lot of changes in one moment is always bad  but everything is new

For descendants - always check the grain on scans if you can't see grain - the scan has problems.

In my current photos, everything but the center has it, because my film has a curve.
