Bear Posted October 7, 2023 Share #2  Posted October 7, 2023 (edited) There were tariffs applied to German imports to the US, including photographic equipment, during Trump's presidency. In response, Leica released popular lenses with a made in Portugal designation for the US market. Leica increased the prices of lenses designated as made in Germany (to cover the tariff costs), while the Portugal labeled lenses remained at the original prices. The tariffs are gone and it appears Leica has stopped offering Made in Portugal lenses and now everything is just expensive 😄 You might find this informative. I have no affiliation with this store; just posting for reference. https://leicastoremiami.com/collections/leica-m-system-m-system-lenses/products/leica-summilux-m-50mm-f-1-4-asph-black-chrome-finish-made-in-portugal?variant=34115716776067 Edited October 7, 2023 by RexGig0

However, the LHSA BC edition is.
