DrM Posted October 3, 2023 Share #1 Â Posted October 3, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear all, Currently, I have the 35FLE with the 0.7m and I frequently run into close-up stuff I cannot photograph,... and end up with an iPhone shot or a crop (which often takes away the moment). The new SX35 and APO35 with close-up seem to be a great option. Is the extra investment for the APO bringing you more in day2day results? Also, the APO35 seems to be difficult to buy....? wda Posted October 3, 2023 Share #2 Â Posted October 3, 2023 Best to buy a macro lens, which I know is not very practical with a rangefinder camera. As you claim to do a lot of close-ups, perhaps you need to retink your kit. For occasional close-ups, there is no shame in using a smartphone camera.

Perhaps I did not describe my use case well. I like to photograph some details, or moody pictures in e.g. restaurants, but not on a macro level. The 0.3m distance is a great working distance in that regard. I agree the smartphone can work as well, however I like to get the best use  out of my camera, and the image files are way more forgiving. Best regards, Marc Edited October 3, 2023 by DrM
Jean-Michel Posted October 3, 2023 Share #5  Posted October 3, 2023 The M rangefinder is limited to 0.7 meters. The availability to focus closer is when you use it with an EVF on your M or guesstimate the distance, or mount your lens on an SL or such.
