Advertisement Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Hi vikasmg, Take a look here Survey of Interest: Faster Adjustments for ISO, EV and WB. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Tomas F Posted November 18, 2007 Share #162  Posted November 18, 2007 I´m a current M8 owner and would really want a fast right hand only adjustment for ISO, EV and WB, without the need to move my head and lose the view through the viewfinder or lose the ability to focus. Best regards from Sweden Tomas Fischer
tim power Posted November 18, 2007 Share #163 Â Posted November 18, 2007 yes, add me in. the stacked menus could be improved and ISO changes definitely the prime candidate. Â gonzopix
scott kirkpatrick Posted November 18, 2007 Share #164 Â Posted November 18, 2007 My much earlier response got moved to the "yes, but let's think about it" thread. So I'll post once more to be sure that I am counted as saying yes to Sean's suggested package. Â I'm all for faster one hand operation (left hand on the lens, right hand on the controls), and for shutter button confirmation. Â scott

Speenth Posted November 18, 2007 Share #167 Â Posted November 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes! Well thought out and surely capable of being achieved through a firmware update. Â I'm less fussed about a WB lock however. Â I look forward to seeing these excellent improvements sometime soon!
AlanJW Posted November 19, 2007 Share #168 Â Posted November 19, 2007 Yes to all. M8 owner since 1/07.
cwf Posted November 19, 2007 Share #169 Â Posted November 19, 2007 I agree, too. Current M8 owner (since 3/07). Â Hitting the set button the second time has always struck me as redundant.
dalippe Posted November 19, 2007 Share #170 Â Posted November 19, 2007 All would be significant improvements, and I have wished for various changes like these since getting my first M8. I now have two. Â David
KJB Posted November 19, 2007 Share #171 Â Posted November 19, 2007 Every little bit counts and this is definitely a step in the right direction. Â Another vote for the added functions. M8 owner since November 2006.

mlesser Posted November 19, 2007 Share #173 Â Posted November 19, 2007 This is an excellent idea and would be most appreciated. Â Own M2 and M8 + lots of cv lenses and Leica 2.8 28mm. Â Marty
Perspectics Posted November 19, 2007 Share #174 Â Posted November 19, 2007 ...II. Yes please, provided Protect still protects when in Play mode. The M8 is the only camera I've ever used the Protect button on, because it's the only camera I've used where a single button press can delete an image. ... Â Sorry, but thats not true. You have to press at least two different buttons in order to delete a picture.
sean_reid Posted November 19, 2007 Author Share #175 Â Posted November 19, 2007 I'm closing the survey now. Leica has decided not to add this functionality to the M8. Â Cheers, Â Sean
jaapv Posted November 19, 2007 Share #176 Â Posted November 19, 2007 Sorry, but thats not true. You have to press at least two different buttons in order to delete a picture. Â Â But I DO use the protect button. I protect all keepers and then hit the "deleta all"button
jaapv Posted November 19, 2007 Share #177  Posted November 19, 2007 I'm closing the survey now. Leica has decided not to add this functionality to the M8. Cheers,  Sean  So we'll have to wait for some Russian to hack Leica's firmware, I suppose... SJP Posted November 19, 2007 Share #178 Â Posted November 19, 2007 Is Leica not interested at all or was there a reasonable chance that they would be prepared to implement firmware changes? If the latter - it would be nice to know what reason they had not to implement these changes, considering the time and energy we all put into this. Â Is it that they are unwilling to make modifications that are contrary to the manual? This makes sense to some extent. BUT, you could consider a menu option (fast EV etc. control ON/OFF) and warn the owner that selecting ON means non-standard control features. Â Just my 0.03 $ (the rate of exchange is changing as we speak)
steve_l Posted November 19, 2007 Share #179 Â Posted November 19, 2007 Sean- this started with a request for a name and e-mail address to send our wishes to....could you provide that as a way to step off the hot seat between us and Leica? It seems that as much as they respect your input, it may be that volume would have an effect where quality didn't... Â Thanks.
lct Posted November 19, 2007 Share #180 Â Posted November 19, 2007 Looks like it's still the old school at Leica mates. I can't seem to recall them acknowledging that they were wrong in 30 years.
