Varaga Posted August 31, 2023 Share #1 Â Posted August 31, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey everone, Is it possible to limit the MFD of an M lens to only 0.7m? The question came because I really want to purchase CV Heliar 50mm 1.5 but I'm sure that the MFD of 0.5m would be extremely annoying when used on my M6. I'm sure its going to take a technician to work on it and its fine by me as long as its possible to do so.

maxpower Posted August 31, 2023 Share #2 Â Posted August 31, 2023 Someone reduced the MFD for the Steel Rim reissue from 1m to 0.76m and described it here:Â So I guess that could give some hints as to what needs to happen (but in reverse for your scenario), but it sounds very far from trivial and I can't imagine even attempting it on a lens I really like. Varaga Posted August 31, 2023 Author Share #3 Â Posted August 31, 2023 Thank you for sending the article! Will definitely not do experiments like this on a Leica glass obviously, and if I decide to do it on the CV Heliar, I would definitely send it to a technician. The steel rim article gave hope, here's a quote: "It was point of no return - a serious decision to make because this type of modification can not be undone. Though there is a relatively simple way to add limiting pin in one of grinding areas to block focusing at 0.9m again."
