Kubixx Posted August 27, 2023 Share #1 Posted August 27, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello guys, I’m planning to scan my 35mm negatives with M10-R and negative supply hardware. My plan is to buy Leica macro adapter and use 50mm summilux as I don’t have any longer lens but I’m unsure that it will be enough. Another variant may be 85mm Laowa APO macro but i presume that Leica lens will behave better optically. Does anybody have experiences with this or similar combo for scanning film? Thanks a lot! a.noctilux Posted August 27, 2023 Share #2 Posted August 27, 2023 Summilux lenses are not recommended for close focus, and at 1:1 is one of the worse choices. Many distortions, curve field, etc. ...not simple but not too complicated to do with modern M's LV, needing a bit of knowledge and some experiences/experimentations and good lens/bellows/rings. ... I'd try some repro or enlarger lens... My best lens on BEOON for slide/negative film for 1:1 is enlarger Leitz Focotar lens 4.5/50mm or Summar 42mm. Thanks a lot! i use the 90APO summicron, with the 50 summilux its usually too close to the target when using the macro adapter M. I’ve used the black chrome for macro work of flowers and such but for copy work I’m in the process of evaluating this exact situation. I’m digitizing with an M11 and a 65 macro Elmar and bellows ii. I also have a 90 macro Elmar. I have yet to compare as I’m working out the 90 focus distance. For the cost of the macro adapter, assuming 750 usd, you can buy a 65 Elmar lens head, lens adapter ring and a bellows ii. With the bellows ii you need to use caution as lens release gets blocked. I could get at it on my m11 but on some newer m’s I’ve heard of this issue. I use a 10mm tube to prevent blockage. If you get the bellows ii try and get the bellows hood as it doubles as a slide copier. The enlarger lens option as mentioned here is an interesting option but have not explored yet.
