RouseandFable Posted August 26, 2023 Share #1  Posted August 26, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I tried to look up the year of my lens but when i did on a search on the Leica serial number look up site it couldn't find it. The lens is a 35mm ASPH Summicron serial # 4100768. Would anyone know why it's not being found or know anything about this lens?
Advertisement Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Hi RouseandFable, Take a look here My 35mm's serial # is not showing up when doing search. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Michael Geschlecht Posted August 26, 2023 Share #2 Â Posted August 26, 2023 (edited) Hello RouseandFable, Welcome to the Forum. If you got to the "Leica WIKI" in English at the top of this & every other page & then go to "Leica M Lenses". And then go to 35mm "Summicron lens V5 Current". You will see that the year of manufacture of you lens was 2009. Best Regards, Michael Edited August 26, 2023 by Michael Geschlecht

No search required - just find the interval in which your lens’ number falls: https://wiki.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/Serial_Number_Links_for_Leica_Cameras_and_Lenses

Hello RouseandFable, When you go to the top of this, or any other page here on the Forum, you will see "Leica Wiki" among a series of choices part way down from the very top. When you "click" "Leica Wiki" you will be given the choice of "English" or "German" versions. Like the Forum in general: The English & German sections are DIFFERENT. They are NOT translations of each other. For THIS situation the "English" section is better. Altho it is interesting to also read the "German" section for similar things. After you "click" the "English" Wiki:Â Go to the section that reads "M Lenses". Then scroll down to "35mm F2 Summicron Version V current"Â And "click" it. Then scroll down to the bottom & read the serial number & the date: 2009. Best Regards, Michael Edited August 27, 2023 by Michael Geschlecht

RouseandFable Posted August 27, 2023 Author Share #9 Â Posted August 27, 2023 Hi Michael, i tried to go by your instructions but am not seeing what you are. Under the English version of "Leica Wiki i don't see "M Lenses" but see "M Series Lenses & Camera Accessories". In that section there is no "35mm F2 Summicron Version V current". I'm assuming i'm still in the wrong section? Thanks
Michael Geschlecht Posted August 27, 2023 Share #10 Â Posted August 27, 2023 (edited) Hello RouseandFable, After going to "M Series Lenses & Camera Accessories": I left out : Then go to "M Lenses X Focal Length".
