Vip Posted August 25, 2023 Share #1 Posted August 25, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have an m11 and wishing to buy a 35 mm ( my most used lens) I have seen some sample of the new apo and it seems very sensitive to create line of ghost images in back light such as in the Jonathan Slack test ( his website) the. “Middle Fen Sunrise Leica M10-R ISO 100 1/350th f4.8 Apo-Summicron-M 1:2/35 ASPH” or in a recent report on this forum : Has anyone experience? Advertisement Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Hi Vip, Take a look here 35 Apo is it prone to aloes in back light image?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Huss Posted August 25, 2023 Share #2 Posted August 25, 2023 That link left a lot of unanswered questions. He did not mention if he was using a filter. He mentioned it was exchanged for another lens - so maybe his was defective. But he did not confirm that. Others commenting said their lenses did not do that. And that pic taken by Jono? Looks great to me! That flare is normal for any lens - it is called sunstars. the two rainbow coloured could be artifacts from the sensor/sensor glass, not the lens.

The lens is nearly perfect. it may have been a test lens and not final production or could have been a filter, etc. Or, maybe some other situation that would produce the affect regardless. anyway, the lens is a marvel. That said, I love my 35 Lux CF as well so what can I say.

I just noticed this thread is about one of my former posts. My APO copy was replaced a few days after I bought it, and the replacement is much better regarding flare. I find the APO 35 close to perfection.
