rramesh Posted August 15, 2023 Share #1 Â Posted August 15, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very often, in this forum we have an individual asking about a particular lens e.g. a 35mm. It would be good for the poster to first indicate the budget he is looking at, besides size, speed, desired rendering etc. Otherwise topics quickly meander into discussions of lenses at a broad spectrum of price points: expensive Summiluxes and APOs, cheaper TTArtisans, and older vintage lenses. At every price point we have a choice and staying focused will allow for a more meaningful comparison across lenses in that band. After all, a lens like the Voigtlander Nokton 35 1.4 II is 1/8-1/10th the price of a new Summilux 35mm Steel Rim reissue. Â

Erato Posted August 15, 2023 Share #2 Â Posted August 15, 2023 Stay away from those pointless discussions that deviate from the core of the topic at all. Due to every and each personal preference and subjective taste, the best way of lens value proposition always comes with a deep dive not peer confidence.
Pierre68 Posted August 15, 2023 Share #3 Â Posted August 15, 2023 It would be a good thing too if people answering these treads would avoid answering with " I don't have any of these lenses but I can tell you... " 2
darylgo Posted August 15, 2023 Share #4  Posted August 15, 2023 Specifics lacking is quite common, and several weeks later it is not uncommon for the OP to be unresponsive entirely in the thread except for post #1.  Makes me wonder if it’s a legitimate question or  not, yet I’ve read four pages of posts with opinions that lacked specifics, potential verbal jousting and in the end realize I really enjoyed the efforts of all that attempted to help.

If you did that I can think of a few members here who would have nothing to post. 1
