You definitely don't need to send it to a camera tech guy who may charge actual money to do it. Your response is rude, certainly the tone is inappropriate.
Advertisement Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Hi xveruskax, Take a look here Leica Summicron 40mm f2 6-bit coded reversal. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

Β I've had lenses fixed by DAG before, that's who will be adding metal so the Minolta CLE reads the lens as a 40mm and gives the appropriate framelines. lct Posted August 3, 2023 Share #23 Β Posted August 3, 2023 I would ask DAG if he can mount an unmodified 40mm flange instead, this way you would keep the modified flange when you want to bring up 35mm framelines on M cameras.

That's an interesting thought but I have two Leica 35mm lenses that I use most often on Leica M bodies. lct Posted August 4, 2023 Share #25 Β Posted August 4, 2023 Too bad to ruin the work done on it then. Some M users would dream to have a 6-bit coded Summicron 40 bringing up 35mm framelines. I've seen that you don't like this idea but my best advice would be selling the lens as is or asking DAG if they can find a normal flange for it. FWIW.

I donβt agree, for many their 40mm ceased to be useful when their last CL died. And given itβs a DIY job I applaud those liberated people who did the conversion themselves without getting sucked into the fear and trepidation associated with everything Leica. So itβs nothing special, and it keeps the price of the lens neutral but increases the usability. Of course itβs possible to try and remember how much to allow for around the edge of the frame on an M body with an unmodified lens, but using multiple lenses on a body and they should all trigger a similar instinct when putting the camera to the eye without an intellectual battle taking place. Or a work of art or whatever, but adapting a tool is not in my mind. However, I agree that it is a completely senseless action. If you know how to use an optical viewfinder it is the easiest thing in the world to extrapolate a 40 mm field of view from 50 or 35 mm framelines. Actually you should know before you put the camera to your eye.Β
