Did you adjust your sharpening routine to the new camera? Reading your lens list I’d say apart from the APO lenses all of them will do just fine on your camera if you don't want that APO-perfectness. If that doesn’t bring you into your anticipated ballpark of sharpness I recommend to follow this: 10 hours ago, Ouroboros said: I did  a lens swap for a day with another trekker in Nepal in March this year.  He borrowed my 28mm summicron asph safari and I borrowed his Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 nokton ii mc and used it on my M10-R. I liked the  Voigtlander nokton and will probably get the sc version ii at some point.   I own the Voigtländer 35mm 1.4 Nokton in the SC version (single coated) and it’s pretty close to the Steel Rim, including the same double Gauss design.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 35mm and 50mm that has a more distinct vibe? List of what I own and have tested. The first two serve a different purpose but may help for overall context  Apo 35mm Summicron Apo 50mm Voigtlander 50mm Summilux v3 e46 (fave so far) 50mm Elmar f3.5 40mm Nokton f1.4 Canon 35mm f2 LTM 28mm Minolta f2.8  I understand that this is the impossible question to answer but if anyone does have a strong view on a particular lens then it would really help me with my Flickr research! Thanks! Costa Your M10-R might have a better calibrated rangefinder, and you may just now be hitting perfect focus with these lenses for the first time. If not, then the only difference is you're zooming in further to look at them. Don't do that 35s are easy to find a nice soft lens wide open: 35 Lux pre-ASPH v2 is the best, IMO. Finding a softer but nice 50mm is a bit more difficult. In any case, they all will be sharp stopped down unless they have haze or fungus. I think you should try a Tiffen Black Pro-Mist 1/4 filter in whatever filter size is the most common between your lenses.
lct Posted August 3, 2023 Share #23 Â Posted August 3, 2023 I have no experience with the M10-R but when i'm after a gentler rendition than modern 50mm asph or apo lenses, especially on portraits, i take preferably a Summilux 50/1.4 v3, a Sonnar 50/1.5, a Nokton 50/1.5 SC v2 or a Summicron 50/2 v4 or v5. In 35mm, Summilux 35/1.4 v2, Nokton 35/1.4 SC v2 or Summicron 35/2 v4. Bodies i use with them are mostly Leica M11 or M240 or Kolari mod Sony A7r2. FWIW. 1

There was a bit of an initial shock when using the newer body. I’ve never considered a filter. Might give it a go. Edited August 3, 2023 by costa43 Grammar
Jeff S Posted August 3, 2023 Share #25 Â Posted August 3, 2023 (edited) Make prints and vary papers, shooting and editing techniques, etc. Â Much easier, cheaper and more rewarding, than buying new lenses and screen viewing. Â My lenses have been equally effective on film, on the M8.2, and now using M10R/Monochrom. Jeff Edited August 3, 2023 by Jeff S 3

Especially love it on M10M. And it’s a bargain Leica lens too.

Right here bud.  First off - this lens works way better on film, which is what I got it for.  On my M10r it is super smeary wide open and has some color cast.  Stopping down does improve it.  However, it is surprisingly sharp in the center so as long as you understand the lens' behaviour, it can be put to good use.  It vignettes heavily wide open.  All these flaws are why you get this lens!  I will say if you get one, buy it directly from lomography.com as it is the cheapest there and the quality is variable so you would be able to easily exchange it for another if need be.  The first one I got years ago was bad everywhere, the one I have now I love: 10r + Minitar 32.   Welcome, dear visitor! Huss Posted August 4, 2023 Share #30  Posted August 4, 2023 This is the same pic - one with the LightRoom lens profile on (they actually have a profile for this lens!), the other with it off. I prefer it w/o the profile as the whole point is to not try and fix the look. Welcome, dear visitor!
