JoshuaR Posted July 27, 2023 Share #1  Posted July 27, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm interested in trying out a 35 Lux Pre-ASPH on my MP and M10. The serial number is 254xxxx. I have only two questions, and I bet folks here can help me. 1. I've heard that this lens can exhibit focus binding up close and at infinity on digital bodies. Is this an issue with the M10? And what does it mean, practically? Can it break the camera or lens? How do you fix it if your focus ring gets stuck? 2. I'm looking at this lens in part because of its small size. Is it true that you can only use a filter with the hood attached? Or is there a way to mount a filter without the hood? (Or is the lens so flare-prone that a hood is always advisable?) Currently I use a 35 FLE. I really like the lens optically, but find it a bit too big. And I want f/1.4. And I enjoy the vintage rendering / Leica glow of lenses like the pre-ASPH. So I'm looking at this lens as a possible FLE replacement. Either this or the reissued Steel Rim (at twice the price).... Many thanks for any insights!

a.noctilux Posted July 27, 2023 Share #2  Posted July 27, 2023 1- this lens has a rear lens protection ring when not oriented right can touch part of the camera. For some of it ...not all. When mounted for the first time on digital M, it's wise to focus the ring at 1m so the said ring is the most far from the body part ... then slowly focus toward infinity and stop at first harder turn then return to 1m = the lens has to be work on 2 - most of users need the hood 12504, for Serie VII filter or E49 in the hood 2.1 I use this lens with adapted square hood 12526, this can turn and gives some vignetting Welcome, dear visitor!
