I gave up on dedicated camera bags mainly due to the looks. Thea all just look like camera bags. Nowadays I prefer a regular messenger bag. I keep my lenses in individual pouches, but I would prefer a smallish egg crate like case which holds up to four lenses, all crons, medium size for Leica, tiny for all other manufacturers. Closed by a zipper.

Any sugggestions?

Maybe not exactly what you mean, but I use this Leica case and modified it a bit. It has foam to hold one M with lens mounted. In a separate compartment, I can put a second body with lens mounted or any largish lens.
I bought some cheap Chinese rear lens caps and hot glued these to the flat bottom of the case. This is a very easy way to keep your lenses in the case safely and ready for mounting. It can hold 4 lenses this way  on a very small surface.

So, when fully loaded, this bag holds 2 Leica M bodies with lens mounted. Battery charger and small bits like rear caps and adapters/filters go into the side pocket. And 4 additional lenses go on the glued rear lens caps.

This is only used for traveling mostly. When going out for a shoot, I usually mount my lens of choice for the day and take 1 or 2 bodies with lens mounted with me in a regular bag. This Leica bag is kept safe somewhere while we are away. Sometimes a spare lens in a coat pocket and just the camera in hand will do for a city walk.

Already suggested above but you might take a look at the Artisan & Artist Gear Box Pro boxes/cases. I have a few of these for various ‘sets’ of lenses. They will easily accommodate three lenses each and are beautifully made from Japan. They used to be difficult to find in the states (years ago I would have to go to Japan to find them). Now both Leica Miami and Popflash here in the states carry A&A stuff.  https://leicastoremiami.com/collections/artisan-artist/products/artisan-artist-gear-box-pro-acam-61d-lens-pouch?variant=34302584684675

Another vote for Tenba BYOB inserts.

I have a BYOB 10 . Ideal for a carrying an M with a summicron attached and four more summicron lenses in a messenger style bag or a backpack.

  • 2 weeks later...

So I bought both the AA one and a Tenba tool case 4.

Somehow I missed the fact that the Tenba had a clear top, but I must say for my use it is perfect. It offers enough protection while being as small as possible and now I can pack my whole Leica kit but the camera in one tiny case. It packs a 21 and 28 voigtländer and a 35apo asph cron and a thin Tele-elmarit 90 and a spare battery and the EVF and a card case and a usb-c cable and a charger and a stack of NDs and a few business cards. That all goes in my messenger bag.
The M11 with the 50 apo gets slung around my shoulder

the AA US much better made and thickly padded, but doesn’t hold enough stuff and is overkill for me. It goes back.
