TheFishman Posted July 3, 2023 Share #1 Â Posted July 3, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello dear forum, All of a sudden, I have a wobbly group or rather the whole mount that carries the lenses wobbles (see video). Rest is solid, aperture and focus ring do not wobble. Do you have any idea what can have happened and what to do? Many greetings and thank you in advance, Â Leo IMG_1178s.mov Edited July 3, 2023 by TheFishman language

jaapv Posted July 3, 2023 Share #2  Posted July 3, 2023 I am afraid that the video will not work this way. Upload it to YouTube and post the link. In the meantime check that the screws on the bajonet have not come loose.
Ray Vonn Posted July 3, 2023 Share #3  Posted July 3, 2023 I managed to download the video ok. Sorry to see that, I'd be extremely fed up if that happened to an Elmarit I'd just bought. Good luck.

Many greetings and thank you in advance,  Leo IMG_1178s.mov 2.31 MB · 5 downloads This is very likely due to a retaining ring at the rear of the lens that has worked itself loose. Many lenses share a similar design where a rear retaining ring holds or fastened the entire optical assembly to the focusing body of the lens. I had this to a minor extent on my Elmarit 28 ASPH (now Sold). If I recall correctly, the retaining ring is fairly thick and large on that lens so it should be easy to fix. You'll need a lens spanner to fix this. Found on Amazon or BH Photo. Please take care using metal tools, as a slip can damage the anodised aluminium surfaces. I usually cover the spanner tips with some electrical tape. If the retaining ring is very loose, hopefully it should rotate easily and you can either fix it yourself or have it fixed somewhere. It should be a 1 minute job if it's the retaining ring. Here is the retaining ring on a Summicron 50mm.  Welcome, dear visitor!
