Thomasb42 Posted June 14, 2023 Share #1  Posted June 14, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently acquired this pretty nasty Summicron and wondered if it would be possible to repair to some extent. I'm used to using Hydrogen Peroxide and Ammonia on haze - is there anything that could improve this damage to the lens coating? Welcome, dear visitor! Kl@usW. Posted June 15, 2023 Share #2  Posted June 15, 2023 If these are really a coating defects you'd need to polish off the old coating and then re-coat it--possible but not really the thing to do. Perhaps Wetzlar still have a spare lens ?  I had a single damaged lens of a S´cron R 35 replaced-long after the lens went out of production and it was´nt that expensive. Or you reframe this lens and call it the Cron-Thambar for the future ? 😄
pgk Posted June 15, 2023 Share #3 Â Posted June 15, 2023 I think that Cameraworks (see:Â https://www.cameraworks-uk.com/camera-repairs-and-servicing) say that they do such work but I have little doubt that it will depend on the extent of the damage which from your photos looks like pitting and so is physical damage rather than acquired. You might also try Skyllaney (https://skyllaney.com/services/) who might be able to help. There will be others but as I said, it will probably depend on the severity of the damage and will need assessing by someone who has done such work before.
