Adam_James Posted June 9, 2023 Share #1 Posted June 9, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all, Toying around with the idea of buying a Contax 645 Carl Zeiss 35mm F3.5 Distagon T wide angle lens to use on my Leica SL2-S for tripod landscape work. Anyone use Contax 645 lenses in Leica L mount? What was your experience? Thanks for your responses, Adam

LeicaR10 Posted June 9, 2023 Share #2 Posted June 9, 2023 Adam_James, You might want to take a look at this Leica Forum link on this subject. r/ Mark Try:
Stuart Richardson Posted June 9, 2023 Share #3 Posted June 9, 2023 Personally, I don't think you really have anything to gain by doing this. The lenses are big and heavy, and they are not really as good technically as more modern options. The native 35mm APO Summicron SL is one of the best lenses ever made, so if you can afford even a used copy of that, it is certainly the best way to go for landscapes. If you want a extremely sharp landscape lens but cannot afford or do not want the native lens, the 35mm Voigtlander APO Lanthar M will be compact, light and a better performer than the Contax. If you want character lenses, there are tons of 35mm lenses for the 35mm format that likely have the combination of atmosphere and performance that you are looking for in a smaller package...probably even Contax's own 35mm lenses. Adam_James Posted June 9, 2023 Author Share #7 Posted June 9, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ynp, I’m not sure about aperture control. I just found the adapter online last night when I should’ve been sleeping…
siddhaarta Posted June 9, 2023 Share #8 Posted June 9, 2023 (edited) It is a dump adapter, so you only can use the lens wide open. And it has a focal reducer with factor 0,7 with lens elements inside. Edited June 9, 2023 by siddhaarta
