Servicing my M9-P. Yes, we do own Porsches.

Love Leica NJ. They do a great job. I am not complaining about the price to fix a dead pixel, and a CLA, RF adjustment, etc. I have not serviced my M9-P since it was given the newest sensor during the free sensor replacement some years ago. This camera is VERY reliable and rarely needs service. This post is just a reminder, probably to myself, that we own something like a Porsche, Ferrari 🙂

I agree that Leicas are uncommon and particularly well made. A couple months ago on a trip to Japan, my guide recognized a Leica camera. I was carrying my M9P and an M10r. I suppose the latter was the culprit because it has the logo. So yes, Leicas are close to photographic royalty, although it was the first time ever that someone recognized the camera or showed any interest.

My Leicas are all acquired second hand so if they are Por(s)ches or Ferraris, they are not a symbol of status, but rather professional tools. But I must say that I consider my M9 beautiful, reliable, well made, and love what it delivers.  As probably everybody else, many cameras and cars come and go. In my family we keep a Saab 900 turbo bought new more than 30 years ago. It is going in a couple months to a full refurbish. If possible -electronics are tricky and feeble-, I would do the same with the M9 if it ever starts to fail.

Mod to the rescue. 👍

I’ll take my Porsche in that silvery grey metallic, please.

Original title of thread had an S missing from Porsche, so it read “Porche” in error

I prefer Toyota or Opel.

My Canon 500D from 2009 got over 100K and needs no service.

I think Canon has auto hot pixels mapping in fw well before 2009.

My GRDIII from.same time has it in fw as well.

My M-E went for new sensor on second year from purchasing day.

It is the only camera I have not too much confidence with.

Just like with Porsche, it has to stay inside if it is too cold or too hot.
