Earlier in May I purchased pre-owned TL 18mm lens for CL.  The lens is compact and lightweight that fit CL very well as a daily camera.  Aware there is CL image thread here moreover may I suggest / start a dedicated image thread for TL 18mm lens from CL lovers.

Took the picture in a hot summer evening after the sun came down.

Thank you to you Sjz.

Frankfurt ... a city I took transit before and wish I could visit it in future.

After a morning walk I stop by coffee shop and seeing these tourists having breakfast while enjoying the view of Victoria Harbour.

Thank you Rusty, your country is beautiful country and one day I would like to visit down under.

This one is the view of The Peak where the very rich people live in the bungalow house, left hand size of the photo.

I find wide open it can be a little soft, however still worth it.

A brand new TL2 and a used 18mm, cropped in.
Cooling a Steam Train.
Daylight was fading so needed 1250 ISO , 2.8 , maybe OTT at 1/1250 … time to get more manual!

I am looking for advice based on the lens and price of the Elmarit 18mm f2.8

I am a new Leica CL user. I found a very nice (9/10) CL w/ Leica Vario kit for what I think was a very good price. I paid $2000 total for a camera with 3 batteries, screen protector, box, and papers. The seller described it as 9+... I'd list it as a 9 and that's fine.

The CL is not my primary camera as it does not match to my primary type of work. I am a nature photographer who publishes in photography magazines and conservation publications. I also do art shows, lead private one on one workshops, and hope to teach a ecology/nature photography course for a community college in the near future. The CL is a camera that I have wanted for years, but found it to be too expensive for something that will see only a little use. I've spent a few days customizing the layout for my needs and will use the camera to document travel, field craft, and a bit of street life. The 18-56 has shocked me thus far, as it is an extremely good lens... dare I say sharper and more contrasty than the 24-120 Nikon f/4S that I use with my Z9 and Z8. I am now considering the purchase of the Elmarit 18mm f2.8. I have found a used one for $629 in Ex condition... probably be closer to $680 after taxes. It does not come with caps or case, but will have a 6 month warranty.

1. What are your thoughts on the price?

2. How will this lens perform as a landscape camera? While I generally carry either the 24-120 or 17-28 Nikon lenses in the field with me, my two bodies are normally attached to my 400 f4.5 and 800 f6.3 lenses. The CL would be used for quick landscapes if something were to occur too quickly for me to swap lenses.

thanks for your help

bruce

I have a TL2, with a Vario 18-56mm f3.5 which is the most used, I also have an 18mm f2.8 that I rarely use, with the 18-56 it gives me confidence and I take more photos.
In good light, both 18mm lenses offer excellent photos.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts... I've decided to shoot the 18-56 for now and wait before adding another lens to kit.

cheers,
