Leica Q3 Freeze Reviewing Photos - Requiring Battery Removal + Loss of most recent picture (frozen picture)

Was just shooting some weather shots and hit the "Play" button to view my most recent shot. Was satisfied and went to turn the camera off, but turning the power did not shut off the LCD. I flipped the power back and forth multiple times, waited it out 10m and eventually removed battery/re-installed.

Once powered back on, the picture the LCD froze on was no longer on my card.

Unfortunate....this was like, my 20th picture on the camera. Using a Sandisk Xtreme Pro UHS-II as recommended by B&H...

It sounds like a read/write error ont the SD card

don't think so, this error was common on the SL2S around release time and was fixed with a firmware update...happened especially if hitting play just after taking a shot.

The camera had a freeze for some reason. It then makes no sense to wait, You can take out the battery immediately. Unfortunately the last photo is lost often.

Freezes can happen with every camera. The M11 had too much of them in the first time. We have to wait if the Q3 has the same issue.

As far as I can make out it was a timing error in writing to the SD card on the SL2S. We will just have to wait and see what the problem if any is on the Q3.

possibly, and of course the OP's "I flipped the power back and forth multiple times," doesn't really help much as far as electronics go ;)

Yep, almost exactly the same thing happened with my new Q3. When turning the camera off after using "Play" to review some photos, the Leica icon appeared on the LCD and just 'froze' there. Turing on and off did nothing. Fixed after removing then replacing the battery, but I don't think I lost the last/any images.

I'm sure Leica will be monitoring this and will fix with an update.

This is a known problem with the Q3.

I've talked with Leica tech support in the U.S. about it a few times as I've encountered the same thing. It may also be accompanid by scrambled images in playback or gray borders on the edge of highly pixelated images. Leica U.S. told me that a firmware fix is forthcoming and in the meantime to pop out the battery and then back in to unfreeze it.

I have had this issue with different types of cards so I wouldn't count on switching cards necessarily resolving the problem. What Leica U.S. also told me is they only test their cameras with Sandisk Extreme Pro cards- the very ones with which the OP had the issue.
