nodrog Posted June 14, 2023 Share #93 Posted June 14, 2023 Very interesting photos. Thanks for sharing them. The museum looks like it provides a phenomenally comprehensive overview of Ando's work. It's interesting that it's in South Korea, rather than in Japan, but I suppose it all comes down to funding. At some point, I feel I must make the pilgrimage there myself. A couple of questions: Why only the 35mm? Nothing wider? Your stitched photos are great, but I can't imagine stitching so many (30?) in one photo. My Mac wouldn't survive the stress! You said you're reluctant to go to high ISO, but I thought the SL2S was amongst the better performers at high ISO? Actually, for me, ISO is almost irrelevant these days, just one more setting to ignore. Differences will hardly show at these small sizes, anyway. How much perspective correction did you use? I'm curious since I'm usually worried about straightening the verticals in my own architecture shots. Cheers, Peter
NigelG Posted June 14, 2023 Share #94 Posted June 14, 2023 OK so as an Architect and massive Tadao Ando fan I both appreciate the photos but now also realise I have to add South Korea to my upcoming travel plans...🙄

Cheers, Peter $70 million was the budget if i remember correctly i don't actually like wide angle lenses, 35mm is my limit, i do have a 28 which i use mostly for skyscrapers, but i knew i needed a wider lens for this location. 28mm might not have stitched properly anyway and would need more deformation[scaling horizontally] which i don't like to do as it will change the original shape too much SL2S is great, but anything above 800, with a max of 3200 is an "emergency im far away and want to get the shot" situation if printed the differences are negligible upto 6400 i don't use persp control in camera, i use the lightroom straighten/level controls, had to use it for the stitched shots, and a few of the single image shots. stitching : i didn't know how big this place actually was! its Huge! and its impossible to get a nice wide shot of the full building thanks to water all around, and forests loaded with bugs. war Posted June 15, 2023 Share #97 Posted June 15, 2023 Thank you for the link to the Video. Opened just last year, the exterior gives no clue as to what surprises are to be found inside. This one has to be your next "assignment" to cover in Seoul. Regards 1
