getoutofgotham Posted April 20 Share #61 Posted April 20 Advertisement (gone after registration) That’s actually really good idea. I mean I don’t even mind if they find a way to squeeze more money out of it. I would just like to see it in the product, but that accessory doesn’t work with the queue does it that’s really only for the M?

It could be it... with the Q3 and M11 sensor a panoramic crop would be a killer feature ... hope leica is listening . Super simple: The X2D has the proper true to life huge 100 megapixel xpan crop. And it is of the same make (well, on paper at least).

I could make a paper mask and lay it on the LCD titled 90 degrees. However, I still would not know which images were intended to be in the X-Pan crop unless the camera applied the crop information. Note that the X-Pan crop information would only work with Adobe software.

That’s not correct because the way it’s implemented in the GFX 50 and 100 series and the way Sony implements it with their aspect ratio markers is to crop the JPEG in camera and leave the raw on cropped but with the profile for the image having the crop attached to it as data, all of these things are addressed in our easily addressedby any camera manufacturer who wants to take the I don’t know two or three days to implement the code maybe a week to QA test it really is not even an argument worth having. It’s not a defensible position for a manufacturer to take.

This has been going on for many years, and other software companies are still reluctant to recognize Leica's metadata and apply the cropping instructions. Yes, it should be easy to implement, but I would not hold my breath.

I mean, all of this is neither here nor there the reality is that the primary function of having an viewfinder crop in this aspect ratio is to give the proper eye to the composer of the image replicating that and post frankly is trivial whether or not they want to implement the industry standard for med data and I don’t think I’d care one way or the other because ultimately when I use this feature with Fuji, my raw are not cropped and I’m able to know by looking at the fact that I have JPEG’s that are cropped that those laws were intended to be cropped and I cropped them. It’s really that simple. As to whether like it will ever do this no, they never will and it has nothing to do with how challenging or not that this feature is to implement, and it has everything to do with their blinded arrogance.
