Face detection focus for still shots...Leica Q2 vs. Leica Q3?

My Q2 Manual says this about the face detection feature: "The focus is set automatically on the faces closest to the camera."

1.  If I have a group of people sitting at a long table, and I can only take the picture by standing at one end of the long table, will the face detection feature focus on all of the faces at the table (and calculate an average distance) or only focus on the faces closest to the camera?  I'm guessing that it does just what the Manual says, so the people at the far end of the table will just have to be out of focus.  I should mention that I am also trying to shoot this in low light at f/3.5 or wider and at no more than ISO 400.

2.  So, my bigger question is: Does the Q3 handle this unique face detection situation any differently than the Q2?
