I have a 1958 35mm f3.5 Summaron with the goggles for the M3. I think based on its age the ITDOO hood is the correct one with the IROOA coming out in 1959.

I know the newer IROOA is reversable which I like but don't think the ITDOO is.

My question is whether the IROOA will mount reversed on the goggled version of the lens or will it only mount reversed on the non-goggle version? I am wondering if the odd shaped mount and google frame on the M3 version may interfere with the hood in reverse.

Anyone here own the goggled Summaron and can confirm the hood fit for me?

Thanks

I don't have the goggled Summaron (so take that into consideration) but - having just double-checked - my un-goggled 1954 35mm f3.5 Summaron (M) will accept neither the IROOA nor the later 12585 when reversed simply because the infinity-lock button gets in the way and fouls the front edge of either hood.

FWIW I have seen a few 12585 hoods which have had an owner-instigated cut-out section on the rim to allow for reverse-mounting. If you don't mind cannibalising a hood......

Ah, the infinity lock....had not even thought about that and that does explain the hoods I have seen with the cutout running up one side.  Much appreciated and I think I will go with the period correct ITDOO now as I have found a decent one at a really fair price and do want a hood for this lens.

Thank you
