This may be a stupid question, but I've been away from rangefinder lenses for a while. I just bought an M10P and got this new Voigtlander 35 Ultron to go with it. I opened up the lens box and found this. I'm thinking that I should not be seeing this much helicoid grease on the lens.

Looks like Voigtlander is getting passive aggressive about complaints of stiff focusing on the 35 Ultron.

I would exchange that for another one. That grease needs to be thinned out in areas you can't reach.

It's funny. When I opened the package, my first thought was that the lens seemed super smooth. Then I saw why.

Have the same lens. Totally fine. Smooth and performs.

Same amount of grease on mine too. At the beginning I was sceptical until I used it on various occasions without any problem.

I would not exchange it or return it. It works perfectly (and yes, you do not pay Leica prices thus no wonders - nevertheless the image quality of that model is more than OK).

Bought a brand new Summicron 50 mm v5 back in the Nineties which had a comparable amount of grease on the visible part of the helicoid. Whiped it a away, never thought of it again.
