Hi guys,

Found a good deal on an Elmarit-M 90 F2.8, but wondering if the aperture ring is fine.

First time buying an Elmarit, currently using Summicrons.

The aperture ring is less smooth than my summicrons, each stop are very distinct compare to my experience with the summicrons. Not difficult to turn but more « clicky » than what I’m used to.

Is that something normal? Did you notice the same?

Does anyone got same lens and could quickly record? I’m not able to find examples on YouTube.

Note: Went to Leica shop of my city to compare, but don’t have the Elmarit.

Thanks!

If you mean the Elmarit-M 90/2.8 v2 (11807), my copy behaves the same. Same for my Elmarit-M 135/2.8. Nothing to worry about.

I’ve purchased two of these, both subsequently 6-bit coded by Leica, one for me and one for a friend.

The aperture ring on both is exactly the same as described by the OP here. The “feel” is very similar to a Canadian-made 90mm f2 Summicron pre-asph of a mid-1980’s vintage I also own, purchased in like-new condition and also had Leica 6-bit code.

I wouldn’t doubt it if someone told me the construction of the 90mm f2.8 aperture ring mechanism is of a better quality than those smooth aperture rings of lenses like the 50mm f2, 75mm f2 and later 90mm f2 APO.

The 90mm f2.8 Elmarit-M is also the sharpest focusing on my two M digital bodies of the three 90mm Leica lenses I own. If I had ro decide which of the three to keep, it’d be the Elmarit.

Thanks guys for your feedbacks.
I wanted to confirm it’s normal, meanwhile I found another reseller nearby and the other one is kinda the same.

Therefore…
I’m triggering the purchase ! :)

What are you guys talking … my Elmarit-M aperture ring feels very “easy” to turn with no hard distinct clicks… kinda easily accidentally knocked …

I would be happy if it was as everyone described here!
