How to use Series 7 filter in the 12501 hood (21mm f3.4 Super Angulon/28mm f2.8 Elmarit V1)?

For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to fit a Series 7 filter (13009) into the 12501 hood.

The filter can be easily fit into the 12504 (35 lux v1/cron v2) hood. All I needed to do is to unscrew the two parts of the hood, put the filter in and screw the two parts together. The filter is held into place by the two parts of the hood.

But with the 12501 hood it does not seem to work this way. The same filter could not be held by the two parts of the hood. It would just slide out.

Am I missing a part in the hood? Do I need an adapter for this? Please advise. Thanks!

You put the series VII on top of the lens and then mount the hood. Or you can first place the filter in the hood and then mount the hood with filter inside onto the lens.

The filter isn’t threaded and only sandwiched in place between the hood and lens. It stays in place with no issues. You can also use 48mm screw on filters. Those are discontinued but available.
