elmars Posted April 13, 2023 Share #1 Posted April 13, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica gave me the opportunity to take the new Summilux 50 mm to Tokyo. I didn't really test the lens, but made a small comparison with the Noctilux and incidentally just took pictures. It seems to me to have slightly better performance than the (stopped down) Noctilux with uniformly high sharpness over the entire image field. Design and handling are excellent (equal to the new Summilux 35mm), I like the lens hood and the lower closest focusing distance. The bokeh is pleasing (as evidenced in the shots) and the flare sensitivity is very low from my observations. What sometimes bothers me about the Summilux 35mm is that it tends to produce color fringing at high contrasts and fine textures (what is easily eliminated in Lightroom); this is much better with the Summilux 50mm. Ich werde mir das Ding näher an. Vielleicht verkaufe ich das apo50sl. Ich hatte das 50M verkauft als das Apo50M auf den Markt kam

UliWer Posted April 13, 2023 Share #14 Posted April 13, 2023 vor 5 Stunden schrieb elmars: Design and handling are excellent Is it true, that the focus throw is much longer than for the "old" 50mm Summilux asph.? The description by Leica says so, though it is not clear whether this applies only to the whole throw from infinite to 45cm, or also for the "normal" throw down to 70cm. The short focus throw of the "old" version caused some criticism (which was justified in my opinion).
elmars Posted April 13, 2023 Author Share #15 Posted April 13, 2023 I had the old Summilux but I don‘t have it anymore. So I don‘t have a direct comparison. But I can say the focus throw is the same like with the new Summilux 35.

Without looking into the map (thanks to the geotagging of the M11) I had said it was in Ginza. But You are right it was near yurakucho station.
