I have a 35mm f/2 Summicron Version III (no aperture tab), I believe the model is 11309 (not completely sure). Did Leica ever made the matching presentation box for this model? As all my research lead only to the presentation box with the aperture tab. Thanks

I think it’s unlikely but others may know more. This “out of date” illustration issue seems to be quite common on the red and white boxes

For example the 35:1.4 v2 box had a picture of a lens with the infinity lock tab right through into the 80s despite the lock having been dropped late 60s.

So IMO the most important thing in determining whether the box is correct for the lens or period (in the absence of serial numbers obviously) is the product number not the illustration.

I bought mine new in 1977. No tab. It came in that very same box.  :))

Thank you for the reply, much appreciated! So the 11309 v2 tab box that I acquired year's ago is the 'period correct' box after all! Have to say, I am a little disappointed that the search has came to a closure on this one. Now the search is on for the 'period correct' bubble case!

Out of interest, do you remember the retail price at the time? I wonder how's the Leica buying experience at the time compares to today.

I confirm : I have a pair of boxes of those times with small inconsistencies between image and actual look of the lens inside (a 28 Elmarit I and a Summilux 35)

I have a bubble case that came with mine, if it's helpful I can post a photo ?  (or do you mean that you know what it looks like you just need to find one ? )

Edit: Actually just remembered my lens is the tabbed one (ie the one on the illustration).

Yes please, do share! it'll give me a good reference point. Most likely shared across the two 6 element V2 / V3 Crons just like the presentation box.

No problem, here you go :D

Great lenses by the way.  I traded my v3 for a v2 because the focus ring was a little stiff on my v3 and I came across a mint v2.   When I had both of them briefly I realised also that the v2 appears smaller (because it tapers at the front), which I like .

Fantastic images from both of them (I much prefer over the 35:2 v4).
