Well, my favourite focal length, demands I don't hold back on lens expenditure. I have tried many 35mm M lenses, and some of them are really really good. But, as with the 50mm, there is really nothing like a Leica. The ethereal draw, the biting sharpness wide open and the handling are more then the sum of the parts. I went for a v1 FLE, rather than the new v2 FLE. The new one is nicer IMHO simply due to the 2mm shorter length from the lens hood (although the original FLE is not large by any means). Although it is 1m wider, which I am not a fan of. The close focusing distance I can take or leave, but the extra 3 aperture blades are definitely a nice to have. The thing is, with the same optical formula, it seemed ok to save £2,000 on a mint- used FLE, rather than the new one. Perhaps there is one in my future ... Anyhoo, you guys know the drill. Using a M10-R with this lens is great. It's sharp at pixel level which just leaves plenty of room for cropping. I only like light cropping, but the capability is there. B&W renders wonderfully of course. I always recommend the "Enhance" functionality in Lightroom to get the last drop of quality from colour and B&W. I do a lot of night/low light shooting, so f1.4 is essential. Being able to not have to make any sharpness decisions on f1.4 is really eye opening. You can just use it .. and on a mild wide angle its also not too thin for infinitely shooting. Anyway, being motivated to get out the house and shoot is the best thing ever, and the 35mm Summilux delivers that in spades ...... The body of the new version of the Summilux-M 35 mm Asph has exactly the same length as the previous version. Just the built-in hood, when extended, is 2 mm shorter than the previous screw-on hood (wider, too, and hence, less effective).

If they ever decide to redo the 28 Lux and make it close focus like the 35. That would be the ultimate wide angle lens ever.

Unsurprisingly, every leica glass has its own unique characteristics… all comes down to the needs and photographic style, im oke with summaron since i mainly use 28 only when travelling and being compact is my priority, but then i always have my 35 lux SR too to combine sometimes i feel the size of 28 lux a little too big to my 28’s taste, but one to each own

I find them quite compact compared to the Nikon’s and Canons AF lenses I used to Lug around. But then again I have very Large hands and tiny small lenses are more cumbersome.
