Trading places

I often wonder if architects in the City London realise how absurd, or misplaced, their creations look from a vantage point in the East End. I called this picture 'trading places' because within a few hundred yards of this wealthy and highly evolved financial marketplace, the Swiss Re Building (otherwise known as the 'erotic' gherkin) there exists a complete contrast in both business activity and architecture. The building to the left of the gherkin is a typical example of late 20th century brutalist architecture - a high rise public tenement.
