jaapv Posted January 31, 2023 Share #21 Posted January 31, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) The 12586 or 12586H hood should fit; I use it on my Summicron 35 asph. You should be able to find a nice one around 100€ - disregard the gold diggers on eBay-. For instance HERE

lct Posted January 31, 2023 Share #22 Posted January 31, 2023 12585 and 12585H hoods fit nicely on Summicron 35/2 v4 and 35/2 asph v1 but they cause vignetting on Elmarit 28/2.8 asph v1.
romualdo Posted February 3, 2023 Author Share #23 Posted February 3, 2023 As I suspected..... now it's glue time (will probably use a soft pliable bookbinding glue) Hello Stephen, Germany have forwarded through your email. Unfortunately, Leica Australia and Leica Germany do not have spare parts for the 12526 lens hood so we are unable to repair or replace the hood. The hood was discontinued a few years ago and I cannot source an entire hood replacement for you either. I am sorry we have been unable to assist, please let me know if you have any further questions. Mit freundlichen Grüßen / With best regards Jane Coulson Customer Care Leica Camera Australia Pty Ltd. derleicaman Posted February 4, 2023 Share #24 Posted February 4, 2023 (edited) As far as the functioning of the tabs and replacing them, I do speak with some experience on this. A few years ago, I acquired a used E55 MATE lens. The lens itself was in fairly good shape, but the hood looked like crap. I got a new hood, but the tabs were chrome and I wanted to have black tabs instead. I got a donor hood (don't remember which one), but it very well could have been one for the 90 and 135 Elmars as I recommended above. Anyway, dismanteld both hoods and swapped the tabs, and all was good. I still think the OP should take this path. romualdo Posted February 11, 2023 Author Share #26 Posted February 11, 2023 update on my 12526 hood I contacted Gus Lazzari (he CLA'd my IIIf a few years back) - he had posted on a photo.net forum discussing Leica hood disassembly, so I thought I'd try him This was his reply - looks like it's back to glue "the plastic 12526" Unfortunately that hood was produced using snap together plastic locks (cheaper to assemble). They're not made to be disassembled. So in order to 'tear it down', you'll likely mar the plastic. - Provide low levels of heat, massage & flexing, try your best to get past the l0ck tabs. Otherwise you'll need to resort to dremeling some expansion joints. Hope that helps, Gus
mujk Posted February 11, 2023 Share #27 Posted February 11, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would suggest a two-component epoxy glue. It doesn't require a perfect contact between surfaces and will fill any cavities. It might be useful to fix the crack in the rim as well, if you just manage to get it in between the two surfaces. It might be better to fix the crack first and then the tab.
