sbinimd Posted January 26, 2023 Share #1 Posted January 26, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Help please! I just bought a used Leica Q with firmware 3.1 onboard. I reformatted an Extreme Pro SanDisk card, popped it in, took a few pictures and tried to ulpload to my Macbook Pro (2019, intel i9, 2.3Ghz, 32 GB RAM, AMD Radeon Pro 5500 card) running Lightroom Classic 11.4 and while it handled the JPGs fine, it either crashed or could not manage the DNG files. When I tried 2 images alone, it took 20 minutes, worked but then would not open them correctly. I can't seem to find any answers elsewhere. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. M11 for me Posted January 26, 2023 Share #2 Posted January 26, 2023 Did you set LRC in a way that it treats JPG and DNG separately? It maybe just that setting.
LocalHero1953 Posted January 26, 2023 Share #3 Posted January 26, 2023 I don't think that is anything to do with the problem: that setting only changes whether the jpg files are imported or not. The DNG files should always be imported - and it should not crash or slow down in any case. My first check would be the SD card: format it first in SD Card Formatter before putting in the Q. If that doesn't work, try another card. Does your MacBook have its own SD card reader slot? Is that how you are trying to read the card? I would also try other means to read it: Use other software to read the dng files. Can Finder show the preview image in the file? Can Photos open them? Copy the files from the SD card into a folder on the MacBook. Can Lightroom or Photos read them there?
marchyman Posted January 26, 2023 Share #4 Posted January 26, 2023 Are you trying to upload via USB cable connected to the camera? If so, don't do that. The USB speed of the camera is very, very slow. Use an external card reader instead.

sbinimd Posted January 28, 2023 Author Share #7 Posted January 28, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) thank you @marchymanand @LocalHero1953 and @M11 for me. I put the camera on JPG + DNG. I changed the card and reformatted it inside the camera. Then I took some pics and dowload them to a folder on my computer and tried to import into LR-C. This solved the DNG problem but suddenly the JPGs would not upload. I could see them in the folder on the mac, but not in the Import files list. I unchecked the "do ont import suspected duplicates" and tried again... no luck. Still only DNG. Then I shot only JPEG and did the same and I could see the JPGs. I tried to re-install the 3.1 software, the last they released I believe, but the camera already had 3.1 and would not over-write the existing software. jaapv Posted January 28, 2023 Share #9 Posted January 28, 2023 I wonder why Leica left out the Mass Storage option. PTP was always problematic
