what 90mm lens did HCB use

Yes. I already had a VIOOH and lots of people hate or disparage the VIDOM so I had to get it. Things lean over when the camera isn’t horizontal apart from everything being left right inverted. So that’s interesting. He did use the SBLOO and the SBOOI iirc the lens codes after 1960.

That is the camera I mentioned. A silver I Model A. I have never seen a good enough photograph to determine if it has been chromed. Yes, I know that I Model As were produced with black paint. I have a significant number of I model As, maybe 9 or 10. Two of them don't have black paint at all. One just has brass and another one had been nickel plated.

Has HCB ever used a Summarex 85/1.5 ?

Yes. In an interview with Richard L. Simon circa 1952 in response to the question 'How do you hold the camera so still?' he says the following as part of the answer to the question.

'For example, I was using the Leica Summarex 85 mm at f/15, standing with one foot on the back of a chair and the other foot just anywhere. I was not balanced. This was in India at the time Gandhi was going to break his last fast --- just before he died. I got my picture, and it was blurry (shot at 1/15th of a second). But it was rather nice, I think. Harper's Bazaar used it as a double-page spread.'

The interview was reprinted in Henri Cartier-Bresson Interviews and Conversations 1951-1998 Edited by Clement Cheroux and Julie Jones, Aperture, 2017, which I got about a month ago.

Hi all

The picture below shows HCB with which seems to be an M3 with a (probably) 9 cm lens. VIDOM always in place.

BTW, the man barely visible to the right of the picture is Martin Luther King

Looks a bit like an 85mm Zeiss Sonnar or 85mm Nikkor to me?

This could also be a Summarit 5cm f1.5. I think I see a focus knob... HCB did use the Summarit on that trip.
