Henry,

Thank you for your comments.

The film is a quite simple Kodak Colourplus 200 - works quite well in decent light, suffers badly indoors. I normally shoot B&W (Canon AE-P - but now my M6) so the change to colour was nice to have.

I've a few rolls of old Portra sitting in a drawer that will get used at somepoint in the future.

I don't know how/when but I broke the rewind knob of the M6. I got a new one from a store in Vienna as Leica Italy took forever to reply. Hopefully it'll work next time I load film. It seems like it is really a weak spot of the camera.

If it can help , you have this new knob and you have just a screw for disassembling

Never forced when rewinding

Thanks a lot. I found one at Leica Shop in Wien and it costed 58 euro with shipping. Not too bad! Leica UK sells it for a similar price too. I have already assembled it but I need to put film in it and try.

It is a simple fix Antonio. I had the top plate of a previous M6, it was quite dusty within the V/F, and it annoyed me. So I located the applicable tools, and opened it up.

Quite simple in the end, and the rewind knob was part way through this process.

Hi,

I would like to know if anyone else has problems seeing the meter diodes on their M6 or M6TTL, outside. Mine are quite faint, easily seen inside but outside it is very difficult see them and in sunlight almost impossible to see.

Yes, I was going to suggest check the battery.  It is mentioned in the handbook if I remember correctly?

Hope that is the answer Wes :)

Thanks for the response. I've changed the battery but still not clearly visible in daylight.. I must put my finger across the bottom of the viewfinder to clearly see the diodes. I have read on the internet that sometimes there is a battery drain with two little 'pins at the bottom of the battery chamber that are used for diagnostics, but when I unscrew the cover and take the battery out I can only see the "coil' at the bottom of the chamber not the 2 x pins??

My beloved M6 - Historica Edition. My 'mid-life crisis' purchase and pride and joy.

Much better photos of it here for anyone interested in this edition.

My M6’s would be the Leica’s that I would not part with. I’ve had them with me since the 80’s and they have been around the world with me. I shoot mostly digital now, but I became the photographer that I am today because of these cameras and they have given a lot back over the years. I still shoot film from time to time to get the film look and I miss the smell of fixer.
