Fetchmycamera Posted December 4, 2022 Share #1 Posted December 4, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am curious. I see some valuable pieces overseas at the Leica stores mentioned here for vintage, etc. Can anyone please please explain how it works? Do they charge a VAT that I have to submit? Do they not charge VAT if shipping to USA? AND regardless, what does US Customs do? Charge me again? Anyone with experience from buying from overseas retailer would be so great if you could help me make sense of this!
Advertisement Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 Hi Fetchmycamera, Take a look here thinking of purchasing leica SL overseas, but usa is home. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wdshuck Posted December 4, 2022 Share #2 Posted December 4, 2022 I do not think VAT is generally applicable for used, only new. If you are shipping to the US, retailers should remove the VAT. For customs, my experience is it depends how the retailer classifies the equipment before shipping. Cameras should not have a customs charge, but I’ve had charges for batteries.
