1st frame club - please share your imperfect first frame -- open thread

This thread is for any picture that is the first frame of a film roll. Please feel free to contribute and share your photo with any camera and film. Please elaborate your camera, film relevant info and a timestamp is not permanent but preferred. I'll share some examples for further reference.

There are some reasons that make this thread meaningful:

  • The first frame is unique for each roll of your film. That also reflects the amount of analog photography activities. It's not 100% accurate, but it could be a benchmark for the trend of revival.
  • The first frame is mostly imperfect but often comes with surprise, joyful, pleasant and, sometimes, it could be even artistic as well.
  • (reserve for further notes here)

Thank you to everyone who joins this loop and share your valuable first frames with us.

Have fun!

Example:

Thank you so much for sharing this valuable frame with us.

BTW, I hope most of the film lovers enjoy and share much more with us in the near future.

As mentioned earlier, the first frame is mostly imperfect but often comes with surprise, joyful, pleasant and, sometimes, it could be even artistic as well.

So, please join us and have fun.🤩

Of course, only film can do this. When you first see it, you feel a little like the bollard on the right in this picture. After a while, you begin to like the chance and the haphazardness of the effect, and you begin to feel more like the bollard on the left.

And that's the way it makes every and each roll become interesting, unpredictable, imperfect and full of surprise most of the time.

It would be great if all 36 exposures could look like the 1st of the roll. Any mad inventors here who fancy coming up with a solution.

Maybe a Holga? Haven’t tried one yet.

This one is taken from my second roll whilst visiting Kyoto. I ended up running for camera stores to buy more rolls.

When loading a Leica M (with quick-load system, i. e. M4 or later) properly then you'll get 38 exposures on a 36-exp roll, and the first frame won't be partially blown.

First, make sure the shutter is not cocked half-way (as it often is when hitting the end of the previous roll). Fully cock it and fire the shutter. Then drop the fresh roll into the camera as depicted on the camera's bottom, do not wind yet, close the bottom plate, wind once and fire, turn the rewind crank or knob to take the slack out of the roll, wind again. Then the frame counter will indicate '0' and the camera is ready to take the first frame.

This is one of the 1st frame taken weeks ago and yes, you're right about it, they're 39 shots(first frame included).
