In January 2021, and again, in early 2022, I carefully weighed the options. I knew, in advance, that my income would be reduced, by the second quarter of 2022. I decided to acquire some “faster” lenses, to let more light enter my M Type 246 Monochrom. Thus far, no regrets, but, I do wonder… Fifteen months after typing the above-quoted post, I still do not regret the decisions that I made, two and three years ago, against adding an M10 Monochrom, based upon my 2021 and 2022 budgets. The M Type 246 Monochrom still amazes me, sometimes, with what it can accomplish. I do, however, realize that I could have made better financial decisions, in 2019, that would have enabled me to acquire an M10 Monochrom, at the time of its introduction, and also be able to acquire all of the M-mount lenses that I now have. With the asking prices, for pre-owned M10 Monochrom cameras, slowly approaching the range at which I could buy afford to buy one, it remains possible that I will entertain the idea of acquiring one, in another year, or so. An M10 Monochrom might, however, have to compete for my attention, and my US dollars, with something yet unforeseen. I remain a “lens person,” paying more attention to lenses, than camera bodies. Advertisement Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 Hi RexGig0, Take a look here Anyone having regrets about their M10M?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pgh Posted May 18, 2024 Share #62 Posted May 18, 2024 M10M is the best digital camera Leica's ever made, IMO. I even bought a second one. The M10 was almost perfect for my uses aside from the sensor. The M10R didn't really fix the issue in the way I care about. The M10M did. Plus a nicer shutter. Love it, love them both. If I ever sell them I'd hate to know why. As a tool there is nothing else I want or need from it and the only real limitations are with my abilities (whereas with the M10, on occasion, the limitations really were with the sensor). I do not enjoy nor want an M11 anything. For 35mm format, ~36-45mp is about as good as it gets in practical use unless you've got IBIS. 7
DaveSee Posted July 11, 2024 Share #63 Posted July 11, 2024 Another consideration: batteries (or, "kill the beast from the inside", starve it of power) On 5/8/2024 at 9:58 AM, tappan said: How can this be? Seems true. Try to buy a new M10 battery. Mark (regarding the shortage of BP-SCL5s the M10 variants use: edit) Batteries (BLI-312) for my 18 y/o M 8 are "discontinued." Thus, when my stash of BLI-312s dwindles, so too the fire in the belly of that noisy beast...despite the electronics in good working order. Add to this the marketing of the M11 variants with "a more efficient battery." Upside is the sturdy build of these cameras. A "powerless" one could aid in leveling a table So, why did Leica re-release the M6?
