Nachtmsk Posted October 24, 2022 Share #1 Posted October 24, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I'm looking at a second hand Leica camera from a well established shop in Germany. They will ship it to me insured for 200 Euros, which is fine. The shop clerk says I don't have to pay any tax because it's a used item. I'm assuming he means I don't have to pay tax in his shop. Do I have to pay an import/duty tax when the package goes through customs? I'm not even sure how that would work if I do have to. Thanks Mike
Advertisement Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 Hi Nachtmsk, Take a look here Customs/Duty tax on second hand Leica from Germany?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
SiggiGun Posted October 25, 2022 Share #2 Posted October 25, 2022 It depends on the tax/fiscal réglementation in your country. As an exemple, shipping inside EU us free uf the object (camera, lens,...) is older than 5 years. Thus is the law but in reality it is not every time/everywhere applied due to the volumes and the relatively low value
arrigato Posted October 30, 2022 Share #3 Posted October 30, 2022 I do not think for a 200 Euro item you'll pay any duty or tax. I purchased several items from the Leica Classic site and only paid a duty on one item and it was well over 200 Euro.
