Dana_C_Voss Posted October 24, 2022 Share #1 Posted October 24, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) The LCD on my Leica CL stopped working a while back. The viewfinder was working fine. I made the mistake of going into the menu and setting the display to LCD only, hoping it would magically start working. {Sigh, I know, bad idea!}. As a result of setting the display to LCD only, neither the viewfinder nor the LCD are now working. The camera turns on, and I can take photos, but of course it's kinda hard to use it with no viewfinder/LCD and no idea what the settings are anymore. Any ideas on how to reset the camera settings to factory default? Or any other ideas on how to fix this issue short of sending it to Leica for repair? Thanks, Dana

ruskkyle Posted October 24, 2022 Share #2 Posted October 24, 2022 This comes up from time to time and it’s usually to do with the eye sensor getting obscured with dirt or grease and triggering the EVF. Try giving it a blow and a clean. If that doesn’t work then you can reach the ‘Reset’ function by switching on and inputting the following: Menu x 7, Down x 6, Ok, Left, Ok 2
tommonego@gmail.com Posted October 24, 2022 Share #3 Posted October 24, 2022 I have had this problem, I found I was cleaning the sensor window all the time, so consulted Leica and sent the camera in under warranty, they replaced the EVF sensor. The second time it was after a minor fall, inches, and the LCD stopped working and eventually the EVF. Sent it to Leica again, not under warranty, they replaced a circuit board and the camera has been fine since, about $450, they did it in less than a month.
jaapv Posted October 25, 2022 Share #4 Posted October 25, 2022 That sensor is indeed a weak point. Mine went in twice.
