Yeah silver lens on black bodies look awesome. Black lenses on silver bodies not so much : p but that’s just me maybe. There were some members that mentioned a black paint limited (ie expensive) version was coming out at the same time similar to what they did with the noctilux f1.2 remake, but guess that didn’t happen. It would’ve been a collector lens anyway so don’t bother.

Silver + Silver > Black + Black > Black + Silver > Silver + Black

As a black M-A user, I was sad that they didn't make a black version of this lens. Otherwise would have been a day 1 purchase for me rip.

There's a simple solution to this problem - buy a silver film body to go with the lens 🙂

That's the way!

Deflate the black paint bubble: millions of posts and instas about bp M2&M3(&M4 in different versions)

+ new MP only acceptable in bp! What else 😁

+ ridiculous prices for bp lenses... 🙄

No more brassed cameras - that's for boys who're proud of worn Lederhosen or blue jeans.

have a silver M body with silver lenses :) !

Photo cameras are not stealth (phones are) and All other cameras are black.

We don't pretend to be professionals with three cameras dangling.

Silver chrome is elegant.

It is good that there are different opinions, otherwise it would be be booring, all the same cameras, all the same lenses ……

But BP is my choice. 🙂

So it is for many years, because this is your preference for a long time now. To each his own.

Whoever felt inspired to join the bp trend lately, that is during the last 1-2 years, maybe for the reason to participate in a market with a very limited number of genuine items...

... die Bäume wachsen nicht in den Himmel = what goes up must (or could) come down (one soon day?).

I think this new - old lens looks gorgeous in silver chrome :) !

Those daydreaming about a black version find hope seeing the new bp edition of the 28mm Summaron. Leica listens to the customers imo.

To add the the nuance of silver, black and recent olive. The Safari and SE editions (M9, S006) have silver shutter speed dials that contrast beautifully, in addition the chrome dial is easier to read, so functionally superior (imho).

Anyone for titanium?  The stainless steel of the M60 camera and 351.4 FLE deserve mention, a work of art, but I fear going off the rails here and will stop.

Steel rim and those ears in the aperture ring. Not for me. The steel rim I can put up with but even Voigtlander is getting away from that aperture ring style. I had it in the 50f1.5. Hated it.

The voigtlander implementation is ugly tho..whereas the steel rim is one of the three most beautiful leica lens ever designed :p (rigid, lux 50 chrome, steel rim)

By far the prettiest combo is olive camera and silver chrome lenses. Just my humble opinion, you need to be into olive/#4b5320/OG-107 cameras to enjoy this. @TheGodParticle/Hari has it figured out.

I'm now getting my M3 repainted olive as the original Bundeseigentum, it's gonna look great with this lens

I haven't used or been following Voigtlander much; does the lens produce a glow at f1.4 like Leica SR??

Much less glow, but it has a little – not enough to be considered a noticeable characteristic of its rendering, IMO.

It’s a faithful reproduction as far as Leica could produce. The glass is different, the coating is improved and yet the lens gives that glow wide open. This also makes it a more useful lens than a one trick pony. Stop it down and you have the performance of a lens of our times. It delivers the rainbow flare as anticipated.

This lens is all about the character, and it fully met my expectations. I am fortunate to have a nice collection of lenses. I love vintage lenses and have the xenons and Hektors and Summarexes, but also appreciate the modern apo lenses. Sometimes it’s cumbersome to take a xenon 50/1.5 for that look wide open and then also take a 50Luxasph or a 50apo for different situations where I’d like to stop down and get a sharp contrasty image. This lens gives you the best of both worlds. And that’s super useful. I mean if you don’t like that glow wide open, you can keep shooting f2 and further just like a normal lens, which makes this quite attractive. There’s the 1M MFD but Leica wanted to remain faithful to the older version so they didn’t change it.

The OLLUX hood has its own place, the modern one is a faithful reproduction of the same design. Changing aperture with the old one was iffy, same with the modern one and hence the second hood.

Size and weight are very close, the lens is of course 6-bit coded.

Hope that’s helpful. Anything specific you have in mind?

How do you find the summarexes? Ive been thinking of them for awhile. Love the rendering.do your ones have clean glass? Ones i see are quite hazy and not so perfect 😖

For the BP M, the brass black paint Voigtlander lenses pair the best. My 28 Ultron looks like it was made with my BP M10R.

They just released the brass black paint 35f1.5
