Leica M to L adapter getting scratched by lenses?

Maybe a weird question but I “invested” in this exorbitantly expensive Leica adapter to ensure perfect fitment and function. It works great, but I noticed today while dismounting my V5 Summicron that the M side of the adapter is now scratched from the lens mount on the Summicron. What gives? Doesn’t seem like a big deal but for $450 you’d think it would fit perfectly without “self tolerancing”.  Didn’t have this problem with the $35 TT Artisan adapter.
