amedick Posted September 5, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 5, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yesterday {4/9/2022] on an overcrowded London tube at 07:00 my Black M11 (serial #5592915) with M10 RocknRoll strap, Leica M10 protector and Leica M 28mm f/2 ASPH lens (serial # 4127016) was removed / lifted from my back pack. I have filed a report with police and let my insurance and Leica know through “my products” on account page. Would anyone have a list already prepared with London dealers email addresses? I know this is easy to prepare but would help me as I am travelling. If anyone sees signs of this equipment please message me. Herr Barnack Posted September 11, 2022 Share #4 Posted September 11, 2022 @amedick That really sucks - what a bummer! I hope your insurance company will do right by you. Being crammed in a tight space with a lot of people with my M or Q2 camera is something that gives me the willies - in that situation, i would put my pack on backwards so it would be on my chest. Also, I have a PacSafe 25 liter day pack for such situations. Pacsafe packs have some great anti-theft countermeasures built into them. When you get your M11 and 28 'cron replaced, you might want to take a look at what Pacsafe has to offer: https://pacsafe.com/collections/camera-backpacks/products/camsafe-x25-anti-theft-camera-backpack https://pacsafe.com/collections/daypack/products/venturesafe-25l-gii-anti-theft-travel-pack
Ba Erv Posted September 12, 2022 Share #5 Posted September 12, 2022 I guess I’ve become something of an expert on theft over the years. My everyday backpack is a Lowepro 150 that opens from a zipper on the backside only. The single zippered compartment accessible from the front is where I store an assortment of loose double sided razor blades and fish hooks. 1
amedick Posted September 12, 2022 Author Share #6 Posted September 12, 2022 (edited) I think it would be interesting to have a half case / protector or camera strap with an airtag discretely embedded in the design. Or even a built in airtag on a P version of the M11. I did have an airtag on the actual back pack...... Blumenfeld Posted December 6, 2022 Share #8 Posted December 6, 2022 Hi, there is now a Leica M11 listed on marketplace here in the Netherlands, for cheap and there are no boxes or papers with it! This is the link to the advertising:https://www.marktplaats.nl/v/audio-tv-en-foto/fotocamera-s-digitaal/m1917575687-leica-m11-black-paint-finish maybe it's yours? jaapv Posted December 6, 2022 Share #9 Posted December 6, 2022 Report it to Marktplaats.
Blumenfeld Posted December 6, 2022 Share #10 Posted December 6, 2022 better contact the seller and do a bid! otherwise marktplaats will maybe remove the advertisement and maybe ask for serial number
Herr Barnack Posted December 6, 2022 Share #11 Posted December 6, 2022 A flagship M11, paired with a bargain basement 90mm M lens, no box or documents and fire sale priced at € 6.000,00 because the buyer can't get used to manual focus? Seems legit. 😅

RexGig0 Posted December 11, 2022 Share #15 Posted December 11, 2022 I would be inclined to use a belt pouch, to keep a camera or lens secure, while riding in/on mass transit. Perhaps two belt pouches, one each, for the separated camera and lens, so that each pouch can be relatively small. The natural drape of one’s arms can provide some amount of cover, making it difficult for a thief to be able to touch the pouch, without being detected. If a thief’s hand does reach the pouch, one can trap that hand, then pivot about, and/or drop to kneeling, throwing the thief off-balance. A sneaky thief should, at that point, be likely to want to break contact. Those of us with training in empty-hand self-defense could exercise further options, at one’s own risk. (A lawyer can quickly become more expensive than a camera and lens.) Leica, itself, markets a shoulder holster, for some of its cameras. The natural draping of one’s arm tends to protect the camera from unwanted contact. For best results, a suitable full-cut cover garment conceals the camera and the holster rig. Of course, the simplest way to carry a Leica M-sized camera, in a relatively undetectable way, is to wear the strap so that it passes over one shoulder, diagonally, so that the camera hangs under the opposite shoulder. One covers the whole lot with a loosely-fitting cover garment. A lens that is relatively compact is helpful, if carrying in this manner, though I do this with a Zeiss Distagon 1,4/35mm ZM, and a Summilux-M 50mm ASPH, neither of which are compact. That should keep the sneak thieves at bay! 1
Cavu Posted December 14, 2022 Share #18 Posted December 14, 2022 Oberwerth does indeed make a half case for M11 with an AirTag slot. I bought one, and am very pleased.

jaapv Posted December 16, 2022 Share #20 Posted December 16, 2022 I just spoke to Michiel of Digimaxx.nl . They got offered the stolen camera in an attempt to sell it by a Dutch-speaking person. They didn't trust the deal (no box, no proof of purchase, etc.) and refused it. But they did take photographs of it and recorded the serial number. It is indeed the stolen camera. Combined with the marktplaats advert - which according to Michiel is the same one- it is virtually certain that it is in the Netherlands. Report it to the Dutch police and it will end up on This site which is used by the trade to pick out stolen items. 5
