Hi Al,

all my thoughts are with you, i read in one  of your post, about your wife. I'm so sad.

My german quotation from a well known writer, B. Brecht, is, i try to translate ( forgive my english): " somebody who fights can win, who does'nt fight has already lost"

I have now the warming music of Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson in my head set. Peace Al to you and your family. Judy please fight the cancer!

DW:   My wife is perfectly healthy. You must have sent this to me by mistake. You are a very kind and thoughtful foto-friend. I hope you find the correct person.

Privileged to sing Evensong today at St Paul's Cathedral as a guest choir (the Fairhaven Singers), and with special permission to take photographs during rehearsal.
CL + 11-23TL at 11mm. ISO 2000, 1/20s.
(And, for those interested, the music was the Ayleward Responses, Stanford's Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis in G and, for the anthem, Howells' Long, Long Ago)

Bravo indeed. And how jealous am I? A camera inside St Paul's is an achievement in itself.

I assume you weren't using a tripod so handheld at 1/20th looks pretty good and sharp.

No, no tripod. This was the best of several at this location - all the rest had unattractive motion blur - the blur in the conductor's hands here is just about OK (he bobs and weaves a bit!).

I was given a 15 minute slot for photography during rehearsal - they are a bit protective!

This is, what the spectacular 11-23TL is made for. Congratulations, very fine indeed.

Thank you!
The lens is not without problems: at the widest end, Leica's embedded corrections leave quite a bit of distortion at the sides (not so obvious here), where any faces are badly 'swollen'. It can be corrected with Photoshop's Adaptive Wide Angle filter, but that is slow and you push the residual distortions to the corners, which then have to be cropped out.
OTOH the CL and this lens make an extraordinarily capable small package. I had too many other things to carry (sheet music, lunch, water......!) to have space in my bag for either a tripod or the SL and its (rather larger) 16-35 zoom. But all worth it to get a record of performing in such an iconic space.

Winter Wonderland    18-56

I had to give full control of my computer to a remote ADOBE Photoshop genius for one hour. The "save for web" feature disappeared from my Photoshop Menu. I had been running CC2014. Now I have CC 2020. One doesn't save for web anymore but must export to Legacy.  Anyway, Happy to be back in business.

Put my CL to good use today at my Granddaughter's 7th Birthday party.  It performed great, used Auto ISO as light was all over the place so went from 200  to 5000, handled it all well enough with the TL35mm.

As you can see she had a celebrity guest - Ariel of course.
