Does anyone else dislike the Q2 lens hood / cap?

I love the hood.  Personally the cap seems fiddly to me so I use the Hood Hat Mini (a neoprene cover for the hood/lens). Stays on nicely.  Comes off when needed and squishes into a pocket and I feel like there's a bit of bump protection inherent to the material.

Same combination I've used since acquiring my Q.  The original cap resides in the box with all the other unused Leica goodies for safe keeping.

I like the lens hood and being in the desert use a B+W clear filter for dust.  Didn't really care for the cap that slides over the front of the hood and use a Lens Hoodie from LensCoat instead.  It's a little fiddly to get on but protects the barrel of the lens as well as the glass.  I use them on all my lenses now.

Hi Camaro5,

I'm thinking of buying a LensCoat Hoodie too for my Q2. Did you get the XX Small or the X Small? And are you still happy with it?

I just looked and it doesn't have the size on the label but to fit over the Q2 lens hood get the one that fits the 2 1/2 inch diameter.  It's been a while since I got them.  I have them for all my lenses and are the only things I use.  The original Leica lens caps all get stored away.  After a while the Lens Coat Hoodies will form to the lens (or metal hood) making them easy to get on and off.  They're also a lot cheaper to replace if you lose one vs. getting a Leica replacement and they protect the lens better.
