Thinking of buying second copy of F1 Nocti - How dumb am I?

I couldn't resist the title, but it is a valid question. I am considering buying another copy of the F1 Nocti v4. Has anyone else picked up a second copy of a nocti? If so, any benefits of doing so?

PS I have the F1, .95 and reissued 1.2.

It's your money to do with as you please.  If it makes you happy, then do it.  You already have 3 of them, so I wouldn't say it's a necessity.  Fretting over getting a fourth is definitely a first-world problem.

I am a minimalist when it comes to lenses.  Only have three for my M10-R and I like it that way.  Each one has a purpose, so there is not much to decide.

What are you going to use it for?  Except drool over it, I mean.

I would use it. A second copy would allow me to put one back and not use it. I feel the F1 is one of the lenses that grows a little more hard to obtain everyday. In ten years, who knows how hard or easy it will be to obtain a copy. I really enjoy the F1. Much more than the 1.2 and in some ways more so then the .95 (which is an amazing lens).

Use the one you have. Let the other ones go to other people who will use it instead of hoarding. We are all just here borrowing things and piling more into our studios or drawers than we need is wasteful from many angles, your finances notwithstanding.

For real, no one needs this shit and if they really, really do there is a situation that compels such certainty that it won't be a question on a forum.

I am compelled to ask if this is my wife. 😜

I realize this is bizzare and I was having fun with the question, but am I alone feeling the F1 is worth putting up a copy for a child or other purpose? I can't be the only one that sees the Noctis as investments of a sort, no real difference than rolex watches people wear.

Thank you Jean-Michel, I am going to check it out!

I grant failing to see the difference with people collecting Rolexes. I don't see it as a bizarre question either. Still, it's just needless hoarding.  It's not that I don't have my collections (I do, in the form of photobooks), and it's not that I can't understand the attraction to material things...but this is a part of myself that I know is less than the person I want to be, and if someone else asks, it is much easier to point out the flaws in reasoning. That, and really, unless you're working a football game with multiple remote cameras - you're not taking images with two lenses at a time.

Don't worry, I see that you're playing a bit here, this is a Leica forum after all. I know where I'm at - but it doesn't stop me from puking at what the brand stands for today (conspicuous and excessive consumption of luxury goods) for while enjoying the actual tools they make.

If so, it would not be the first time a forum member's bitter half resorted to cloak and dagger tactics in order to derail an M lens purchase by a recalcitrant husband (no that is not a typo)... 😁

This is kind of off topic but years ago in the late 70's I purchased a 35mm M Summilux for my M5 - the lens was nice but I thought it should be better - a friend of mine who worked with the Smithsonian Photo Dept - said "try another one - might like it better" - well I did that - sold that one and tried another - it was perfect. It took three 35mm Summilux lenses to find the perfect match to my M5. I did not keep three - I just tried till I found the right combination (my M5 and 35 Lux) for me. They were all a little different. Third time was a charm.

I confess to having just sold my E60 v4 Leica-tweaked-and-coded copy via Ivor/Red Dot.

I know I’m going to miss it but not at the price they now command…

Who did the encoding?
